The State Property Fund has added the integral property complex of Drohobych Saltworks to the list of objects to be privatised. Preparations are currently underway for the auction, where our unique enterprise, which has been operating since the 14th century, will be put up for sale.
Drohobych Saltworks is not just the oldest operating enterprise in Europe that has preserved medieval salt production technology. It is a symbol of our city, the pride of Drohobych, its soul, part of our history, culture and tourist attraction. Today, when the fate of this unique facility is being decided, the city’s community has the opportunity to unite to preserve it.
The position of the Drohobych City Council on this issue remains unchanged: the enterprise should be preserved and transferred to municipal ownership. After all, no one will care about its preservation and development more than the city community.
