A pair of swans has returned to Levandivka Lake after wintering at the ‘Rescued Animals Home’. This occurred because the birds were temporarily evacuated in January due to severe frosts, as reported by the Lviv City Council.
The Deputy Mayor of Lviv, Lubomyr Zubach, stated that two employees from the municipal enterprise DP “Sknyliv-park” assisted in returning the swans to their permanent residence.
At the Rescued Animals Home, the birds spent a little over two months. Workers there took care of them, providing proper conditions and transportation back to the lake.
For the swans’ comfort at the lake, the pond was continuously filled from a well throughout the winter. As a result, part of the water remained unfrozen, allowing the birds to stay in natural conditions.
They had to be retrieved only due to extremely severe frosts for the safety of the birds themselves.
Overall, the pair of swans has been residing at Levandivka Lake for about ten years. Lviv has 23 lakes in parks, but swans live only at Stryiskyi and Levandivka alongside wild ducks.
