With the onset of warmer weather, planned refurbishment of children’s playgrounds has begun in Lviv. In all areas of the city, they are being cleaned, painted, and repaired. Overall, this will affect 986 locations, with the main phase of work scheduled to be completed by mid-May. For example, on Kulparkivska Street, communal workers are already actively engaged in repairs.
There are 986 playgrounds under the maintenance of Lviv’s communal enterprises. Major repair work on all playgrounds is expected to be completed by mid-May, weather permitting. This includes painting and replacing certain elements. The Sykhiv district contains 213 playgrounds, while the Halytskyi district has only 46. Throughout the year, a monthly inspection of playground conditions and prompt elimination of defects is planned.
This year, a major overhaul is planned for four playgrounds, one in the Frankivskyi and Zaliznychnyi districts, and two in the Shevchenkivskyi district. Repair work starts annually in spring, and new elements are expected to be installed, including sandpits, balance beams, benches, and bins.
Halyna Narivna, head of the Frankivskyi District Administration, notes that inclusive elements are being installed in children’s playgrounds. These are placed upon request from parents or if it is known that children in wheelchairs reside in the area. Inclusive swings and sandpits have already been installed at the playground on Kulparkivska Street. Lviv’s budget for this year’s playground development programme allocates 35.6 million hryvnias.
