
Many will be keen to learn that Viktor Drachuk, a man who once faced severe trials on the front line, has found new meaning in life and has become a father. The veteran, who previously lost his legs due to an explosion, now raises a child with his wife Lviv City Council.
The birth of his son took place at St Nicholas’s Hospital in Lviv under the supervision of obstetrician-gynaecologist Waldemar Nadizhko. Drachuk served in the 95th Brigade, where he sustained injuries. During rehabilitation, he found his life’s inspiration in sports, as well as his future wife Victoria.
After numerous surgeries and rehabilitation, Drachuk entered the Institute of Physical Culture in Lviv and actively organises events for veterans. Together with his wife, they have already participated in the Ukrainian Water Tourism Championship.
In January this year, Viktor spent six days in the world’s largest gypsum cave in Ternopil Oblast. This man has not only demonstrated that life continues after war, but also began a new chapter with the birth of a son.
The Drachuk family jokes that they are now raising a future athlete. They are already planning to take their son on hiking trips and to competitions. All these events highlight the importance of continuing to fight and finding new horizons after difficult trials.
