As of February 20, 2026, a decline in water levels and low snow avalanche danger are observed in the Lviv region.
In the past day, up to 5 mm of precipitation fell in the Lviv region. On the rivers of the Sian and Dniester basins, a decline in water levels by 1 – 10 cm continued. On the lowland rivers of the Western Bug basin and in the upper reaches of the Styr River, slight fluctuations in water levels were noted within 1 – 10 cm per day, with a predominance of rise.
Most rivers in the region have cleared of ice, with only isolated sections of rivers maintaining ice phenomena in the form of embankments and ice covers. The ice thickness in the area of the Vereshchytsia River hydropost – city of Komarno was 12 cm. In the next day, a gradual decline in water levels will continue on the rivers of the Dniester basin, with slight fluctuations observed on the rest of the region’s rivers, with a predominance of decline.
Due to the decrease in air temperature, during February 21 – 22, some intensification of ice phenomena is expected on the region’s rivers. As of 08:00 on February 20, in the mountains of the Lviv region, the snow cover height in the cities of Turka and Slavske did not exceed 5 cm. From February 21 to 23, low snow avalanche danger (level 1) is maintained in the mountains of the Lviv region.
