Supreme Court Protected Lviv’s Historical Heritage
Good news! Today, the Supreme Court closed the case on the annulment of Lviv’s historical and architectural support plan. What this means: the previous rulings of the Kyiv District Administrative Court have been invalidated, and the proceedings in the case have been closed. Now, unscrupulous developers cannot destroy the historical part of our city!
Thanks to everyone who cared about this case! Thanks to the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications and the public who never remain indifferent! Together, we are strong!
Developers Attempt to Destroy Architectural Heritage
Developers are trying to destroy Lviv’s architectural heritage through the court! This could happen as soon as tomorrow, October 14! I urge everyone to spread this post as widely as possible!
Back in 2017, the city commissioned the development of a historical and architectural support plan for the clear regulation of construction in historical zones. The plan was approved by the Ministry of Culture in January of this year. But not everyone liked it.
The developer “NEW-TRADING LVIV” wants to build a 25-story building on Lypynsky Street, and this historical and architectural support plan is a thorn in their side. Therefore, they filed a lawsuit with the Kyiv District Administrative Court, which in a closed session annulled the important document for Lviv without even hearing the city’s position.
This is absurd! The city of Lviv was not involved in the case, even though this plan concerns us. Of course, we filed an appeal.
Open Judicial Process — A Demand of the Times
On October 14, Monday, the case will be reviewed in the Sixth Administrative Court of Appeal in Kyiv. Attention! This hearing is again planned to be conducted without public involvement of the city council. Reporting judge Mezontseva Ye. I. and judges Epель O. V., Faydyuk V. V.
The developer is suing the Ministry of Culture, and the city in this process is only a third party. I sincerely hope for the support of the Minister of Culture and all concerned, because we will all have to deal with the consequences later. It is about the historical area. This is UNESCO heritage!
Honestly, it’s hard to believe this is possible in a country that considers itself a democratic European state. We demand an open court process! Such issues cannot be decided behind closed doors!
