Funds from registration will be used for the manufacture of body armor by the Lviv Defense Cluster to reach the 100,000 mark.
The Lviv Defense Cluster, Run Ukraine and the ProBig running club initiated an international charity online “Run to 100,000 body armor” in order to raise funds and realize the first operational goal of creating the LOK – to provide 100,000 body armor for the Defense Forces of Ukraine.
“The need for body armor remains. We want as many soldiers, medics, emergency services workers, and policemen as possible to receive body armor for their daily work,” said Maksym Plekhov, Chairman of the Board of the Lviv Defense Cluster.
Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the LoK has already provided 80,000 defenders of Ukraine with bulletproof vests for free.
“100% of the funds from the registration fee will be directed to the production of body armor for our defenders. The purpose of the project is important. And this is very close to me, because my husband, until February 24, was a professional athlete, an Olympian, and since February 25, a volunteer of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and has been on the front line for four months. He and his brothers are protected by bulletproof vests from the LOC,” says Orysya Demyanyuk, the founder and head coach of the PROBIG running club.
As a reward, each participant of the international “Race to 100,000 Body Armor” will receive a unique commemorative medal made of armor steel, from the remains after carving the sheet into plates, which are the main protective element of body armor of the Ukrainian military.
“Race to 100,000 bulletproof vests” will last until September 19. It will be held in an online format, so anyone who wants to, from any corner of Ukraine or the world, can join. The participant himself chooses the location, time and comfortable distance: 10 km, 21 km or free. We invite professional runners and everyone who supports Ukraine to participate,” commented Victoria Veremienko, Marketing Director, partner of Run Ukraine.
The registration fee is 890 hryvnias, and participants can pay a larger amount if they wish. We would like to remind you that 100% of the funds from the registration fee of participants in the Run will be directed to the production of body armor for the Ukrainian military.
