
Today, on July 28, a working visit of the Embassy of Japan’s delegation to Ukraine took place at the international checkpoint ‘Krakivets-Korchova.’ The meeting was attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Ukraine, Mr. Masashi Nakagome, the leadership of Lviv Customs, a delegation from the UN Office on Drugs and Crime, and representatives of the 7th Border Carpathian Detachment.
During the visit, the guests were acquainted with the organization of the checkpoint’s operation, including the demonstration of a cargo scanner, a baggage inspection system, as well as special technical equipment used by customs officers, and the work of the canine team of Lviv Customs was demonstrated.
During the meeting, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Ukraine expressed gratitude to the Ukrainian side for the warm welcome and highly appreciated the work of customs and border officers under wartime conditions.
There was also an official handover of a portable device for the identification of solid and liquid hazardous chemical substances, the HazMatID Elite, to the State Customs Service of Ukraine, purchased with the support of the Government of Japan. The supply of technical equipment was provided by the Program Office of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime in Ukraine.
