From Lviv to Spain: Mykola Ishchuk will travel the famous pilgrimage “Jacob’s Way”.
During October, the deputy of the Lviv Regional Council, Mykola Ishchuk, will cycle the world-famous pilgrimage “St. Jacob’s Way”. The goal is to raise funds for the treatment, rehabilitation and prosthetics of Ukrainian defenders.
The journey will start from Lviv, then the man will pass through several Polish cities. The final point of the “Way of Jacob” will be the Spanish city of Santiago de Compostela. The distance is more than 4000 kilometers.
The deputy will travel the Pilgrim’s Way with the support of the Lviv Regional Military Administration, the Regional Council, the BF “With an Angel on the Shoulder” and the Lviv Hospital, on the basis of which treatment and rehabilitation of Ukrainian military personnel takes place.
“Today, Ukraine is fighting not only for its own future, but also for the future of all European states and their values. Europe and the home of every European is not somewhere far away, where we can only reach comfortably by car, but so close that in a short period of time you can walk or cycle. In addition to collecting funds, this path will have a symbolic meaning – to show Europeans that they have common values with Ukrainians, to express gratitude for their support in our struggle, to emphasize that the victory of Ukraine is our joint task. I will call on people to be charitable in prayer on the pilgrim’s path,” said Mykola Ishchuk.
The deputy has been preparing to overcome the “Jacob’s Way” for three months. He says that at first he rode a bicycle up to 20 kilometers at a time. Thanks to daily training, it is already possible to walk more than 50 kilometers a day.
We will remind you that the “Way of Saint James” is a pilgrimage route to the tomb of the Apostle James in the Spanish city of Santiago de Compostela. This path is included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
