A New Home Assistance System to be Tested in Lviv Region

The Lviv region will begin testing a home-based medical and social assistance system.

As stated by the head of the Lviv Regional State Administration, Maksym Kozytsky, several communities in the region will implement an integrated home care service based on the Buurtzorg model: small self-managed teams of nurses (6–12 people) will provide medical assistance, social support, and counseling not in facilities, but in people’s homes.

This was agreed upon during a meeting between the regional leader with representatives from ‘One Health’ (All Care initiative) and the founder of the Buurtzorg model, Jos de Blok. In the near future, partners will select the communities that will participate in the pilot project.

‘The ‘All Care’ project has already assisted over 3000 elderly people in Lviv region. This confirms the effectiveness of decentralized, autonomous teams focused on the needs of those they support. Establishing a home-based medical and social assistance system will significantly ease the daily life of low-mobility populations, elderly people with chronic diseases, and people with disabilities. I thank Jos de Blok and the ‘One Health’ team for the partnership’, stated Maksym Kozytsky.
