“Four years together: very little…, we didn’t have much time”
When it became known that Serhiy Dyakunovych from Sosnivka had died in the war, his name was immediately mentioned in the Visnyk newspaper. Exactly 19 years ago, a material was published about three graduates of Sosnivska School № 7, who were left without parental care and then entered adulthood. Sergei was one of them.
The conversation took place on the streets of his hometown, and what they were talking about – he recalled a material from June 19, 2003 entitled “Do not give up the dream.” The boy immediately said that for him, family is everything. The only thing he always wanted was to make a lot of money. He also dreamed that his younger sister Inna would have better childhood memories than the ones he had left. After going through a lot, he said that he would never raise his hand against a girl, a woman. Although he can stand up for himself, because he practiced karate for several years. He was also worried about the health of his sister, who had been in one of Lviv’s hospitals for the second month. And he gave the money that Serhiy received from the Charitable Foundation to Serhiy Vyshnevsky’s orphans to medicine. On himself, the guy admitted, spent three hryvnias.
Hero’s wife Yulia told Visnyk newspaper (№ 13-14 of June 16) what defender Serhiy Dyakunovych became now.
“When we met, his grandmother Nadia was no longer alive. I know that Serhiy studied like that at school, because even then he worked part-time at the Nadiya mine to make it easier for his grandmother to feed them and his sister: he swept the territory and sifted coal. He remembered with gratitude his teacher Pasha Mikhailovna: she allowed him to take a nap in class, knowing that he was tired after work. Grandmother Nadia worked at the mine in security and often took Sergei and her sister with her. I know this from the story of my mother, who also worked in the mine, and remembers how this elderly woman went to work with her young grandchildren: she took Serhiy by the hand and took Inna in a wheelchair.
We met at the rehabilitation hospital in Sosnivka – I came there after school to work as a nurse. I first heard about him in 2014, when Serhiy was in rehabilitation after being in the anti-terrorist operation zone. Then psychologist Natalia Luhovska, a person close to me, came to work for us. And one day she says: “Dyakunovich is going to the East again. He says that nothing keeps him here, he has no relatives, the girl didn’t get along. ” And I thought, “Where are you going again, boy? Just came, just survived all that… ». But then he was just a patient for me, and I didn’t even think we would meet again. This happened in 2017, when he returned to Sosnivka and came to the hospital for rehabilitation again. Then Sergei said that when he first saw me, he realized that I would be his wife. And we’ve been together ever since. Very little…, very little, we didn’t have much time. ”
For four years I did not let my husband go east. He continued to work as a miner, the last place of work at Mezhyrichanska, now he had up to 13 years of experience …
He protected me like that flower. And I felt it. When I got pregnant, she was with me at all examinations. When she saw his tears on the first ultrasound, she joked: “You’re a soldier! ..”. We then learned that there would be a girl, and Serhiy wanted a daughter. And then we argued about the name of the unborn child. He says, “Let’s call Eve!” And I didn’t want to, because my grandmother in Reklyntsi (who is 95 years old) would definitely say: “Then you have Yevka!”. Sergei agreed, and we chose the name for our daughter for a long time. The pregnancy was difficult, I spent a lot of time in Sokal. And he is from work at the mine – to me. I asked to bring some books because it was boring to just lie down. And he brought it every two days. One book was called Solo for Solomiya. Sergei asked to tell about what was there: “You know, I do not like to read, but I will listen.” I began to tell, and he immediately suggested: “Come on, let us have Solomiya!”.
He adored his daughter. She was born very young in our country. I remember we started bathing her at home, as we were advised: we put her on a mattress, and she is so light that she pops up… Then Serhiy put his daughter on his palm, she almost fit in there, and started squirting on her. So we bathed her until our little one grew up a little.
Sergei, as a soldier, was a reservist of the first turn. But he was the kind of man who would leave, even if he wasn’t called. He said, “For your child, for living in peace, and for never asking me, Dad, where have you been?” I will never stay at home.
On February 23, the daughter fell ill. We were in the hospital, and when we got home, we were told that there was a summons. I asked my husband, maybe you shouldn’t, you’ve been there so much, maybe you’ll postpone, go with the second turn… He replied: “Don’t worry, it’s training. I’ll go, stay a while and come back. Nothing terrible will happen. ” And at night he already knew that there was a full-scale breakthrough at the border, and at 6.40 in the city the alarm began and he immediately went to the military registration and enlistment office. Our guys from Sosniv are mostly all from the “24”, they went to Lviv immediately, and Serhiy – from the “14th”, in Volyn. There was no bus in that direction and he was released home for two more hours. He said, “I’ll stay with you for a while.”
Serhiy died on March 7, and I found him exactly a month later – on April 7 …
He ended up in the Bucha-Borodyanka district. He did not say what was happening there, but said: “Honey, everything is fine. I’m in the bone. They shot a little, it’s all right. ” But when you’re a military woman and shots are heard on the phone, you’ve learned to tell when it’s okay and when it’s a little scary. I realized that something happened right away. In the evening we talked, my daughter and I went to bed. And at 3 o’clock I woke up in the “mandrake”. She started calling him, but since then there has been no communication.
I called the headquarters, “got everyone on their feet” and was told that there was no connection at all. With the wives of other soldiers, we created a chat, began a search… And there was already an occupation. We tried to reach out to the locals and learned that a company of guys had been broken up in a field nearby, and they were lying there. They can’t see who’s there, as soon as they leave their yards, the occupiers shoot at them.
Before April 7, the locals said that our people had vacated the territory, they would be able to go to the field and see who was there. And then it was reported that the bodies are already being taken to the morgue. Honestly, I didn’t think I would find Serhiy there, I was told that I had seen him somewhere in the hospital and so I had hope. Although for so long you understand, if that were the case, they would have let me know… And then they called me and told me that they had found the body of my brother Serhiy, and my husband told me a lot about him. I couldn’t call there myself and asked my cousin to do it. An hour later she learned that the man was in the same morgue. He was with documents, he could be identified, but I did not want to believe, several times forced the morgue worker to return to the body, until he said that on his left shoulder is a tattoo of yin-yang.
We buried Serhiy in the Siletsky cemetery. I go there not often, in two days. Sometimes by bus, it happens that friends drive up. When we get into the vehicle, our Solomiyka, without asking, says: “To Dad!”. We have a video where Serhiy teaches his daughter to dance. I will not say that he danced very skillfully, but this memory will always be with us… »
We will remind:
Sergei Dyakunovich, born in 1986, died in the battles against the Russian enemy. Serhiy has been a member of the Anti-Terrorist Operation / Environmental Protection since the beginning of the Russian-Ukrainian war, and joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine in February.
Forever bright memory to the defender!
