With the arrival of the summer season, traffic at the Ukrainian-Polish border has significantly increased.
At the crossing points in the Lviv region, there has been a 25% increase in passenger traffic compared to average annual figures, with up to a 16% rise on weekends. The busiest crossing points at the moment are: Krakivets – 45 vehicles, Shehyni – 20 vehicles (reconstruction is ongoing, complicating traffic flow), Ugryniv – 15 vehicles, Hrushev – 10 vehicles.
Alternative without traffic jams: “Nyzankovychi” and “Smilnytsia”. These crossing points are currently operating smoothly and may be more convenient for crossing.
Attention! Repair work is ongoing: At the Shehyni crossing point, the old road surface is being dismantled and new communications are being laid. Repair work is also ongoing on the Polish side in “Medika”. This is additionally affecting traffic speed.
Forecast: up to +40% passengers in peak season. Further increase in load is expected on all routes of the Lviv region. In response, border guards from the 7th Carpathian Border Detachment have increased the number of border patrols during peak hours, deployed additional automated workstations, and intensified coordination with Polish services to optimize passage.
Tip for travelers: Plan your route in advance and check updates on the border situation every three hours on the official page of the Western Regional Department of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine – Western Border.
