During the autumn-winter period, new temporary housing will be arranged for residents of Lviv’s modular towns. It is about 8 two-story houses adapted for living in winter. After all, here residential blocks, bathrooms and dining rooms will be in one room. It will be located in Sikhiv, next to the container town of Mariapolis. Instead, the town in Stryi Park will be dismantled, and the other two will be preserved for the winter.
As explained by the deputy mayor for urban planning, Lubomyr Zubach, the current container houses for displaced people have heating. However, the inconvenience is that showers, bathrooms and dining rooms are located in separate rooms. And in the new winter town they will be in the same room.
“In the summer, people were satisfied with their accommodation. Today’s houses have heating, and residents can already turn on electric batteries in their rooms. But in winter it will not be very comfortable there, because to use the toilet or shower, people have to go outside. That’s why we decided to refurbish the town in such a way that there are living rooms, a dining area, and showers and toilets in one room,” said Lyubomir Zubach.
The Polish government will hand over additional modular containers to Lviv to build a warm town. Containers from Stryi Park will also be used. “This town has fulfilled its role and is being dismantled. In its place, as promised, we will restore sports grounds. Instead, “Mariapolis” and the town on St. We preserve the bulgur for the winter. And in the spring-summer period they will be able to use them again,” Lyubomyr Zubach noted.
The official added that deliveries of the first containers from the Polish government are expected as early as next week.
It is important that the new warm town will have 300 spare places and a total of 1,300 people will be able to live here. About 1,000 forcibly displaced Ukrainians currently live in modular housing in Lviv.
