The Heritage Bureau, together with ZMIN, launched the joint project “Heritage Operators”, which aims to monitor operators of immovable cultural heritage objects of Ukraine and publish it for public access on the Re_HERIT website.
This project has its own background, from 2018 to 2021, within the framework of the “ReHERIT: Shared Responsibility for Shared Heritage” project, implemented with the financial assistance of the European Union, the site was developed and filled with analytical materials about cultural heritage. One of the sections of the site is “Heritage Operators”, which contains information about institutions, organizations, enterprises and specialists working with cultural heritage in Ukraine. Now it is planned to update and supplement this rubric.
If you work in the field of cultural heritage, provide services, or are related to this field, please fill out this form. Our colleagues will definitely contact you.
“We communicate every day with the owners/users of cultural heritage objects and with various heritage operators (restorers, representatives of authorities, institutions, foreign foundations, public organizations), so we understand the need to establish cooperation between them. Placing information about heritage operators within the framework of a single platform will contribute to raising the level of information about them among the owners/users of immovable cultural heritage objects and will strengthen the ability to implement their projects”, says Pavlo Bogajchyk, director of the “Heritage Bureau” LKP.
Such a platform will facilitate communication between heritage operators in Ukraine.
“For ZMIN, partnership with teams that focus on quality work with heritage is included in the strategic thread of activity. Here we see important benefits for communities, stimulating conversation about the broader framework of heritage, hence a more sensitive approach. We also consider heritage as an opportunity for social, cultural and economic changes,” said ZMIN director Hrystyna Boyko.
The context of a full-scale invasion highlighted the need to review policies, think about new mechanisms, and reinforce change at all levels – from official policies to grassroots initiatives.
The platform will show a wide ecosystem of agents – operators and includes complex solutions.
“We are talking about – a section where official structures, grassroots initiatives, educational institutions, researchers and service providers will be present on one map – archiving, which can become a good basis for further research, also a rather applied function – facilitating dialogue between those interested in preservation and vulnerable use of heritage,” adds Khrystyna Boyko.
“Identification, actualization and systematization of heritage operators is not just mechanical work with data. It is also an opportunity to unite the ideas of those who care about Ukrainian culture, our common heritage in a time of threat. From individual specialists in digitization or restoration to city and government politicians, from public initiatives to philanthropists — the potential of the field is inexhaustible, and we will make efforts to represent all forms of activity related to heritage in all regions of our country during the project. It will be interesting, I’m sure that there are many discoveries ahead!” – sums up project manager Yaryna Korotkevich.
