On May 26, a fire broke out in the city of Sokal at the municipal landfill located on Shevchenka Street. The site is maintained by the municipal enterprise Sokalzhytlokomunservis.
According to the Sokal City Council, the fire spread across an area of 700 square meters of waste. The emergency report was received at 6:00 p.m.
Firefighters managed to contain the blaze at 12:31 a.m., and the fire was fully extinguished at 4:27 a.m.
Firefighters and Municipal Equipment Were Involved
Several fire and local emergency units took part in extinguishing the fire, including:
- 22nd State Fire and Rescue Unit of Sokal;
- 33rd State Fire and Rescue Unit of Sheptytskyi;
- 34th State Fire and Rescue Unit of Sosnivka;
- 52nd State Fire and Rescue Post of Velyki Mosty;
- local fire teams from Khorobriv and Spasiv;
- equipment from Sokalzhytlokomunservis — a bulldozer and a tractor.
The Sokal City Council thanked all employees and services who helped extinguish the fire at the municipal landfill.
