On December 31 at 8:38 a.m., a fire broke out in a two-story summer house in the village of Konopnytsia, Lviv district. The Rescue Service “101” received the report, and firefighters promptly arrived at the scene.
Upon arrival, they found the building partially engulfed in flames. Due to heavy smoke, firefighters had to work using respiratory and vision protection equipment.
During the firefighting operation, the body of the 91-year-old homeowner was discovered.
The fire destroyed household items over an area of 15 square meters. The fire was localized at 9:16 a.m. and completely extinguished by 9:25 a.m.
The likely cause of the fire was a malfunctioning heater.
