In a forest near the village of Hai-Smolianski in Zolochiv district, local residents came across a 76 mm artillery shell dating back to the Second World War. They immediately reported the dangerous find to the rescue service.
On 08 July, bomb disposal specialists from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit of the Mobile Rapid Response Rescue Centre “Lviv” of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine removed the munition and destroyed it in the prescribed manner.
Rescuers stress that if you discover objects resembling munitions, you must not touch them, move them or attempt to neutralise them yourself. You should move away to a safe distance, warn others of the danger and immediately call 101 or 102.
The State Emergency Service emphasises that even after many decades such munitions remain deadly dangerous.
