A 33-year-old resident of one of the villages of the Zolochiv district faces a penalty of imprisonment for up to eight years.
As the law enforcement officers established, on December 23, around 6:00 p.m., near a store in his native village, during a conflict, the suspect stabbed his acquaintance, a 24-year-old resident of a nearby village, four times in the thigh area, causing serious injuries. After that, the attacker fled from the scene.
Detectives of the criminal police, investigators and crews of the response sector of the patrol police of the Zolochiv district police department were involved in solving the crime. Through the conducted measures, the law enforcement officers established the location of the perpetrator and detained him in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
Investigators of the territorial division of the police, under the procedural guidance of the Zolochiv district prosecutor’s office, informed the detainee of the suspicion of committing a criminal offense provided for in part 1 of article 121 (Intentional grievous bodily harm) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment – deprivation of liberty for a term of five to eight years.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, and soon the court will choose a preventive measure for the suspect.
