In Lviv, an indictment has been sent to court against a 21-year-old local resident suspected of organising the sale of drugs via postal deliveries. This was reported by the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
According to the investigation, the young Lviv resident bought so-called “master stashes” of prohibited substances, after which he packaged the drugs into small doses. He concealed them in envelopes and zip-lock bags and sent them by post for further distribution.
In May this year, the suspect came to one of Lviv’s post offices to send a parcel containing disguised cocaine. At that moment, he was exposed by law enforcement officers and detained under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
During a search at the man’s place of residence, officers seized almost 3 grams of pure cocaine, 18 ecstasy tablets, electronic scales with traces of cocaine, a spoon with traces of packaging, as well as zip-lock bags and envelopes. In addition, according to the investigation, he may have been involved in the sale of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances via online shops on Telegram, receiving payment to a crypto-wallet.
The suspect has been remanded in custody with the option of bail. The pre-trial investigation is being carried out by investigators of Investigation Unit No. 1 of Lviv District Police Department No. 1 of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Lviv Region, with operational support from the Drug Enforcement Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Lviv Region.
The Prosecutor’s Office reminds the public that, in accordance with Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until his or her guilt is proven in the manner prescribed by law and established by a guilty verdict of a court.
