In Lviv, the inclusive cubicle of the modular toilet on Svobody Avenue is temporarily out of service

The inclusive cubicle of the modular public toilet on Svobody Avenue in Lviv has been temporarily taken out of service. LKP «Ratusha servis» reported that visitors had damaged part of the equipment, so the company is awaiting the necessary spare parts for repairs.

This concerns a modern modular toilet in the form of an open-air metal pavilion marked “WC” and with pictograms for the men’s, women’s and inclusive cubicles. Inside there are two separate cubicles — a standard one and an inclusive cubicle for people with disabilities and other people with limited mobility.

According to the municipal company, acts of vandalism at the site have recently been recorded on a regular basis. CCTV cameras are almost daily recording groups of young people damaging the equipment, trying to enter the cubicles without paying, and littering inside the premises and on the surrounding area.

“These are not the first instances of vandalism involving the modular toilet at 7 Svobody Avenue. However, over the past month, CCTV cameras have been recording practically every day how groups of young people damage the toilet equipment, enter the cubicles without permission and commit other hooligan acts. There have also been recorded cases of littering inside the premises and on the adjacent territory,” say representatives of LKP «Ratusha servis».

As a result of these actions, it is the inclusive cubicle that has been damaged: the equipment and sanitary ware have been affected, as well as the doors, walls and part of the electrical equipment. Because of this, it is currently impossible to use this cubicle fully; it requires additional repairs.

According to the company’s estimates, the total amount of damage has already exceeded 75 thousand hryvnias. All episodes of vandalism have been recorded by CCTV cameras.

The Lviv City Council has contacted law enforcement agencies regarding the damage to the public toilet on Svobody Avenue. The city is calling on residents and visitors of Lviv to treat infrastructure facilities with care, to protect the community’s shared property and not to ignore instances of its destruction.

The inclusive modular toilet at 7 Svobody Avenue came into operation at the end of 2024. In its first month of operation, 2,001 visits were recorded, an average of about 65 users per day.

The cost of using the toilet for all visitors is 20 UAH. Payment can be made in cash or by bank card via the payment panel at the entrance. Opening hours are daily from 09:00 to 23:00. In the event of a power cut, the toilet does not operate; however, thanks to stored battery charge, the system still allows the visitor to leave the premises safely for a certain period of time.
