21 Individuals Fined in Lviv for Grass Burning

In the Lviv community, measures are ongoing to detect and prevent the burning of dry grass, which harms the environment. Since the beginning of the year, 21 individuals have been fined, with the total sum of fines exceeding 6,000 hryvnias. This is reported by the Lviv City Department of Civil Protection and Territorial Defence.

In May, 17 fires have already been recorded, two of which occurred in forests, while the rest were in various communities. Most incidents happened on the outskirts of Lviv. Fires were also extinguished in Dublyany, Velyki and Maly Gribovychi, Zashkiv, Malehiv, and Bryukhovychi, where a residential building was damaged, but fortunately, there were no casualties.

All residents are reminded of the danger of burning dry grass, which is prohibited by law and punishable by fines ranging from 3,060 to 6,120 UAH, and for officials, from 15,300 to 21,420 UAH. Special attention is given to nature reserve areas, where fines for arsonists reach from 6,120 to 12,240 UAH, and during wartime, such actions may be equated to sabotage with criminal liability.
