The Lviv Opera House, the Central State Archive and leading museums received generators from German partners

Today, November 24, four generators with a capacity of 10 kW were handed over from partners from Germany for the cultural institutions of the Lviv region. In particular, for the National Museum in Lviv named after Andrey Sheptytskyi, the Museum of Ethnography and Artistic Craft, the Central State Archive in Lviv and the Museum of the History of Religion.

Another largest generator weighing over 3.3 tons and with a capacity of 270 kW was awarded to the Lviv National Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet named after Solomia Krushelnytska.

“Unfortunately, the destruction of the energy infrastructure forces us to look for different ways to survive under any circumstances.

It is good that today we have the support of the world community, which helps us in such a difficult time.

Thank you to our museum curators, managers of our communal institutions, who support our heritage and strive to preserve our monuments. No matter how much the enemy wants to destroy us, our culture, history, language, we will stand together and preserve our heritage.

Our cultural front firmly stands in defense of our country, its people, culture, traditions, history, and our future,” emphasized the head of the Lviv Regional Council, Iryna Hrymak.

Vasyl Vovkun, director of the Lviv National Opera, also expressed his thanks. “The generator we received will illuminate the stage, lobby, heat it and our audience will see our performances, premieres. We are currently the only theater in Ukraine that will have such a substation. We will be able to share its capacity, for example, with the Zankovetska theater,” said Vasyl Vovkun.

For his part, the director of the Museum of the History of Religion, Orest Malyts, noted that the received generator will allow them to run the boiler room to ensure a stable temperature regime in the museum, and therefore proper preservation of the exhibits.

Museum workers are grateful to the Association of German Museums and the Ukraine Art Aid Center, the Federal Office for Culture and Media of Germany, the German-Ukrainian Society of Economics and Science, and the Federal Institute for the Cultural History of Germans in Eastern Europe for their help.

According to the director of the Historical and Local History Museum Ihor Tymets, this is already the 9th aid truck from Germany since the beginning of the military aggression of the Russian Federation. Earlier, with the assistance of the Lviv Regional Council, the Western Ukrainian Union of Museums, and the Headquarters for the Rescue of Heritage LOGO “Tustan” aid was transferred from German benefactors to 90 museum institutions and nature reserves of Ukraine. Assistance was also received for about 150 wooden churches in the Lviv and Ternopil regions.

“This is expensive and very necessary equipment: dehumidifiers, humidifiers, generators, about 1,200 fire extinguishers. In addition, restoration materials, films, gloves, protective materials, hygrometers,” Ihor Tymets said.
