Over 760 thousand free transfers made by passengers in Lviv public transport

Over three months, LeoCard passengers made 762,322 transfers in the city’s public transport. This means that all these transfers were free of charge for residents. This was reported by Lvivavtodor.

As a reminder, thanks to the free transfer functionality on city buses, trams and trolleybuses, passengers pay for all trips validated within 40 minutes as if they were one trip – UAH 13 with a general LeoCard or UAH 6.5 with a student LeoCard.

We would like to add that free transfers for all passengers with LeoCards in public transport in Lviv have been available since 12 July. This means the ability to transfer to another bus, tram or trolleybus within 40 minutes at no extra charge.

You can transfer to trams, trolleybuses and buses of any city route. The number of physical transfers is unlimited. The main thing is to have time to change and be validated in another transport within 40 minutes. In other words, the time starts from the moment of validation in the first transport. After that, the passenger has 40 minutes to validate the Leocard in the next transport. This time is the average travel time for city routes from the annexed hromadas to the city centre or to a transfer hub.

The free transfer also applies to tickets for travelling companions if the payment is made with a LeoCard – general, student, pupil or discounted. For this purpose, the LeoCard holder must validate the corresponding number of additional tickets for friends in each vehicle to which a transfer is made within 40 minutes.

All interchange trips must be validated in each vehicle. If the trip is not validated during the transfer, it will not be considered a connecting trip. In this case, it is a separate unpaid/non-validated trip for which the passenger may be fined.

Free transfers are not available to passengers who pay by credit card or cash.

In Lviv, more than 65% of passengers validate their travel with general and personalised LeoCards. In general, almost 90% of public transport passengers pay for travel by cashless payment.
