The City Hall of Lviv once again calls on residents to observe the safety rules for using gas and stove heating, and not to take their health and life lightly! This morning, a woman was poisoned by carbon monoxide.
In particular, as reported in the Department of Emergency Situations, Civil Protection of the Population and Territorial Defense, at 07.00 in the apartment on the street. A 58-year-old woman was poisoned at 147 Lychakivska Street. She was taken to the regional clinical hospital, the circumstances of the incident are being investigated.
In total, since the beginning of the year, 47 cases of carbon monoxide poisoning have been recorded in the city, as a result of which 120 people were injured, including 32 children. Unfortunately, 4 people died. The cause of all poisonings is non-observance of the rules for using gas appliances in the home, violation of draft due to airtight windows and electric hoods.
Experts once again emphasize that the main requirement to avoid trouble is the flow of fresh air into the room where there are heating devices – through the window, through the door, and through the ventilation channel, which must be constantly cleaned, and in which there must be an appropriate draft to work out gases were released into the atmosphere. Where devices are installed with the flue discharge of combustion products into the chimney – i.e. gas cats or columns, etc. – this chimney must also be clean. And in no case can there be electric fans in such rooms. If one of these rules is not followed, carbon monoxide begins to form in the room and trouble occurs.
REMEMBER! Gas is explosive, and the slightest violation of the rules can lead to tragedy with human casualties – explosion, fire, poisoning and destruction. In all accidents related to the use of gas (explosion, fire, poisoning), you should call one of the city services: ambulance – 103, fire department – 101, gas department – 104, police – 102. Any of these services will notify the rest and they will arrive at the scene.
