A rapid-construct frame apartment building for internally displaced persons has been built in Drohobych.
The construction was carried out using Canadian wooden housing technology, which increases the energy efficiency and environmental friendliness of the building. The new house accommodates 12 apartments for 52 displaced persons, including large families and families of fallen Ukrainian Heroes. The project was implemented thanks to the collaboration of the Lviv Regional State Administration, MoveUkraine, and the Drohobych City Council.
More than 25 million hryvnias were allocated for the construction. The charitable organization ‘MoveUkraine’ provided nearly 10 million hryvnias, UNHCR Ukraine in partnership with the International Charitable Foundation ‘Carpathian Region’ provided over 6.5 million hryvnias, and the local budget contributed more than 9 million hryvnias.
‘Sincere thanks to all partners who supported this project, to each contractor, and to all specialists who diligently worked on the implementation,’ said a project representative. Special thanks to the community of Drohobych, who consistently remain among the leaders in supporting IDPs not only in Lviv region but across the country.
To date, over 200,000 internally displaced people officially reside in the Lviv region. It is the responsibility of the authorities to ensure decent conditions for each of them. In the Drohobych community, two more complexes are planned, which will provide shelter for over 400 Ukrainians.
