A fire broke out at the “Unbreakable Mothers” center for displaced women and children in Lviv, affecting two floors of one of the buildings. Preliminary reports suggest that carelessness with fire may have caused the blaze. Thankfully, no residents were harmed.
What Happened?
The fire occurred yesterday at the center housing displaced women with children. Flames engulfed the first and second floors of one building. All residents were promptly evacuated and provided with necessary supplies. The most damage was sustained by two rooms where two families lived.
According to Volodymyr Frydrak, head of the city’s Child Services Department:
“The cause of the fire is under investigation by the State Emergency Service (SES). Fortunately, no residents were injured. We quickly provided families with clothing, hygiene products, and food supplies.”
Witness Accounts
One of the center’s residents, Svitlana, reported that a boy playing with candles may have caused the fire:
“He lit the candles to ‘relax,’ but the fire spread to the bed and quickly engulfed the room. Luckily, he managed to run out and alert everyone about the fire.”
Another resident, Iryna Onyshchenko, expressed gratitude for the immediate support:
“Most of our belongings were destroyed, but we were immediately provided with clothes, food, and hygiene items. The most important thing is that everyone is safe and healthy.”
Next Steps
Efforts are underway to clean up the damaged premises. Independent experts are assessing the extent of the damage and planning the building’s restoration. The city is preparing to implement solutions for prompt repairs.
