If found, they will be removed from the curriculum
The Academic Council of the Lviv National Medical University has decided to review the curriculum and remove all references to Russian sources from it, if any are found.
This was reported by the university’s press service.
This step was taken after a video from a lecture at one of the medical universities appeared on social media, where the teacher used materials of Russian origin during a class for students majoring in Therapy and Rehabilitation.
“We consider this practice absolutely unacceptable, especially given Russia’s almost three-year-long aggression against our country, which has caused thousands of casualties at the front. This is especially important for the specialities that train specialists to help both military and civilian victims of this war,” the statement of LNMU reads.
The specialities of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation were introduced at Lviv Medical University this year.
“We recognise the importance of training specialists in these fields in educational programmes based on international standards and proven evidence-based practices. To improve the learning process, we involve foreign specialists and their methods and organise internships for our teachers in European clinics,” the university said.
The Rector of LNMU Orest Chemeris instructed the teaching staff to review the curriculum and remove outdated and Russian-language materials. The heads of the faculties and departments are responsible for controlling the process.
