From September, the Lviv community will increase the number of early care groups for children from the age of 1 — they will already be operating in 22 pre-school education institutions. This was reported by Lviv City Council.
Online registration for these groups will run from 1 to 31 July 2026. Registration will open on 1 July at 9:00 and close on 31 July at 16:00. Children can be registered via an online form on the web portal. Admission is conditional on the child’s age: as of 1 September 2026, they must be at least 1 year old.
The lists of children recommended for admission are scheduled to be drawn up on 3 August. On this day, parents whose children are included in the recommended list will receive an SMS message with confirmation.
Early care groups for children from the age of 1 will operate at the following pre-school education institutions in the Lviv community: pre-school №92, №48, №55, №153, №51, №170, №127, №5, №154, №129, №12, №75, №21, №166, №109, №155, №43, №44, “Dzvinochok”, “Vilni”, “Levomrii” and “Veselka”.
Andriy Zakaliuk, Director of the Department of Education and Culture of Lviv City Council, noted that every year the city receives many requests from parents regarding groups for the youngest children, so this year their number has been doubled — such groups will now operate in 22 nursery schools across the community. According to him, this will help families to combine parenting with work and everyday responsibilities, and help children grow up in an environment where they are cared for, can play, explore the world and communicate with their peers.
For two years now, Lviv has been implementing the “Platform for Change” programme, within which early care groups have been created in some pre-school education institutions for children who were 12 months old at the time of admission. The city’s education development office adopted this model from colleagues in Munich, Germany, and introduced it in Lviv. Initially, three pilot nursery schools were launched; from September 2025 there were 11 such institutions, and this year early care groups will already operate in 22 nursery schools.
The project partners are the charity “Horikhovyi Dim” Foundation, the organisations AWO Oberbayern and Hans Weinberger Akademie, as well as the Centre for Professional Development Support for Lviv Teaching Staff.
