On 10–11 June, the trolleybus routes 22, 23 and 25 in Lviv will be temporarily altered due to ongoing repairs on Stryiska Street on the section from St John Paul II Avenue to the city boundary in the direction of entry into Lviv.
According to the city’s transport department, the contractor Onur has begun milling the traffic lanes, starting with the outer right-hand lane, above which the overhead contact line runs. As a result, trolleybus routes 23 and 25 will be temporarily shortened, and some of the trolleybuses on route 22 will be diverted to Pidstryhacha Street.
On 10–11 June the trolleybuses will run as follows:
- Trolleybus 23 will operate on the route ‘Ryashivska — Khutorivka’, shortened to the Khutorivka stop.
- Trolleybus 25 will operate on the route ‘Shota Rustaveli — Khutorivka’, also only as far as the Khutorivka stop.
- Trolleybus 22: some vehicles will run on the usual route ‘University — Bus Station’, while others will be shortened to the Pidstryhacha stop, where they will operate on the route ‘University — Pidstryhacha’.
According to the transport department, 6 trolleybuses with autonomous running capability are expected to operate on route 22, for which the route pattern will not change, and a further 6 trolleybuses will run to Pidstryhacha Street. Information on the direction of travel of a specific vehicle can be tracked on the information displays.
Bus routes and private vehicles will run without changes, as milling on Stryiska Street is being carried out in turn on each of the three traffic lanes. While work is under way on the outer right-hand lane, the middle and left lanes remain open to traffic.
The carriageway on the odd-numbered side of Stryiska Street from St John Paul II Avenue to the city boundary is being repaired in two stages: from Vernadskoho Street to St John Paul II Avenue, and then from Vernadskoho Street to the city boundary. Work is initially being carried out on the section from Vernadskoho Street to St John Paul II Avenue, where it is expected to last for up to three weeks.
Once repairs on this section are completed, an additional lane for public transport is planned in each direction by redistributing the width of the carriageway and applying new road markings. In this way, the main road will have three lanes for general traffic and a separate lane for buses and trolleybuses in each direction. Further changes to the operation of trolleybus routes 22, 23 and 25 will be announced separately.
