Two more refurbished trams from Berlin have been put on route 3 in Lviv, increasing the number of trams on the line to four.
This was reported to Lviv portal by the press service of the mayor’s office.
According to Lvivelectrotrans, as of 30 August, four of the 12 KT4D tramcars that Lviv recently received from Berlin are already operating on this line.
According to Volodymyr Kovaliv, the head of the utility, two more trams are currently being refitted in repair shops. It is planned that they will start running in the second half of September.
Berlin trams are energy-efficient and consume 2-2.5 times less electricity than the existing trams in Lviv. This will allow the company not only to expand its tram routes with additional cars but also to save on electricity.
As a reminder, Berlin Transport Company is donating 12 used KT4D trams and spare parts to Lviv.
By the end of 2024, Lviv will also receive 11 used Bernmobil trams for free. They are being donated by the Swiss city of Bern. Eight of these trams are in good working order, and three are for spare parts.
