Experts from Krakow Train Drohobych Colleagues in Modern Techniques

The Drohobych community is actively strengthening its cooperation with international partners. Recently, practical training for the enterprise’s employees commenced at the KP “Drohobychvodokanal”, conducted by specialists from the Krakow Waterworks. The purpose of the Polish colleagues’ visit is to share their experience in operating the powerful Mercedes-Benz Actros sewer cleaning machine equipped with a MULLER hydrodynamic-vacuum system.

This multifunctional equipment was transferred from Krakow to Drohobych in December 2025. The machine allows for the efficient cleaning of pipelines from complex blockages while simultaneously pumping and separating sludge and water. It can also serve as a powerful pump during emergency situations on the networks.

Previously, specialists from the Drohobych Waterworks had undergone training in Poland, but specific technical nuances arose during daily operations, necessitating the visit of the Polish colleagues to Drohobych. The training is conducted by Krzysztof Kulik, Deputy Head of the Sewer Network Operations Department of the Krakow Waterworks. Accompanying him is Andriy Lupitsky, an employee of the Krakow enterprise and former chief dispatcher of “Drohobychvodokanal”.

This visit is given special significance by Krzysztof Kulik’s family history. It turns out that the Polish specialist has roots in Drohobych: his grandfather was born and raised in our city, from where he was mobilised into the army in 1937. After enduring the trials of captivity, he later settled in Poland, and decades later, his grandson returned to the ancestral homeland.

The training course is designed to last three days and includes both theoretical foundations and practical exercises directly on the city’s sewer network facilities. Such direct experience transfer “from specialist to specialist” will enable Drohobych experts to maximise the use of modern European equipment to ensure the community’s stable functioning.
