Today, October 7, the Lviv Regional Council commission conducted a field meeting to monitor the activities of military medical institutions in Lviv.
A representative of the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights in Lviv region, Lviv Regional Council deputy Taras Podvirny, joined the commission’s work. Deputies familiarized themselves with the activities of the Military Medical Clinical Center of the Western Region and its Clinic for Outpatient and Polyclinical Care. They reviewed the electronic queue system and discussed additional funding for improving accessibility, including the installation of an elevator to the bomb shelter.
Separately, the need for funds to complete the renovation of the guardhouse premises of military unit A0583 was discussed. The work is ongoing: the installation of ventilation systems, boilers, and doors remains to be completed. An additional 6.5 million UAH is required for completion.
Commission members visited the premises of the 16th Regional Military Medical Commission. A ramp and lift have already been installed here, but the institution requires the launch of an electronic registration system and additional funds to complete the renovation.
“Over the past few years, substantial work has already been done in the military medical institutions of Lviv, funded by the regional budget under the ‘Safe Lviv Region’ program, as well as through state funding. Our military medics work under difficult conditions and require proper material and technical support. We need to create comfortable working conditions for them and ensure decent treatment for servicemen. Particular attention should be paid to inclusivity in establishments for military personnel, people with disabilities, and low-mobility groups. Such field visits allow us to see the situation on-site and develop effective mechanisms to improve it,” said the commission chairman, Nazarii Sumalo.
Based on the results of the visit, the commission will prepare proposals for consideration at the regional level and will also appeal to the Lviv City Council and regions of the Western region, whose servicemen undergo treatment or receive services in Lviv. Implementing these initiatives will help improve the quality of medical care and the efficiency of military medical facilities.
