A new operating room has been opened at the Saint Nicholas Children’s Hospital in Lviv.
This unit was built from scratch in one year with the support of donors. It includes six new operating theaters, significantly increasing the speed and quality of surgical care. “The existing operating rooms have long been insufficient for continuous operations,” doctors note. The new unit will increase the number of surgeries from 12,000 to 21,000 per year.
The cost of equipping the unit amounted to 4.4 million dollars, funded by charitable donations. The Scottish organization Kids OR contributed 3 million dollars.
An important addition was the Da Vinci Si robotic system, which has already saved the lives of many children. Advantages of such surgery include minimizing trauma and quick patient recovery.
