Sheptytsky City Council has approved a support program for young athletes called “Olympic Hope.”
“This is an extremely important program. Sport is not only about strong health, but also about character building and forming a true fighting spirit,” highlighted the project co-author, council secretary and war veteran Oleksandr Hrasulov in his report. He emphasized that youth from organizations such as “Sokil” and “Plast” became the backbone of Sich Riflemen formation, and today numerous young athletes have volunteered in the ongoing Moscow-Ukrainian war.
For the implementation of the program in 2026, one-time payments are provided for sports school athletes who have become winners of the Ukrainian Championship: 1st place – 20,000 UAH, 2nd place – 15,000 UAH, 3rd place – 10,000 UAH. Coaches whose pupils win a prize are also granted a one-time payment of 20,000 UAH.
The program includes awards for winners of regional competitions in both individual and team sports. The aim of this program is to improve the conditions for achieving high sports results by the city’s sports school students and to encourage youth towards active sports engagement.
