The Lviv City Council adopted the Program for liquidation of the consequences of the emergency situation as a result of the Russian missile attack on houses

Today, at an extraordinary session of the Lviv City Council, the Program for liquidation of the consequences of the emergency situation as a result of a rocket attack on the houses of the city of Lviv by the aggressor country of the Russian Federation on July 6, 2023 was approved.

As explained by Iryna Marunyak, the deputy mayor of Lviv in charge of housing and communal services, the document makes it possible to carry out emergency restoration work in houses that are damaged and to provide the necessary compensation to evicted residents for housing rent.

“Houses damaged by shelling and in need of repair, and there are more than 30 of them, are distributed among all district administrations in order to speed up the work. Work has already begun. All roofs are covered, 9 out of 18 roofs are already being repaired. All the windows are also sealed and we are now taking measurements to make new ones.

Let me remind you that 17 buildings are architectural monuments, so we will make wooden windows in them, and plastic windows in the rest.

4 houses were the most affected by rocket fire – on the street Stryyska, 62, 64, 66, 68. Now there are contractors who remove emergency parts and carry out urgent work. At the same time, designers are working to create documentation on how to restore these houses.

During the works, people are resettled in modular towns. A total of 40 people were evicted.

Now our task is to quickly and efficiently organize the work, to carry out restoration as soon as possible, so that people can return to their homes. All this requires funds. Therefore, the approved Program allows us to organize these works and provide funding for their implementation,” explained Iryna Marunyak.

This program lays down a mechanism for the distribution of UAH 100 million to compensate for emergency works, capital restoration of buildings, and resettlement of residents during the works.

“First of all, we are talking about covering the roofs, installing windows, entrance doors and strengthening the walls.

Also, together with the state and private investors, we have to rebuild 4 houses that were destroyed,” said the mayor of Lviv.

We will remind, in Lviv on the night of July 6, a Russian rocket hit a complex of multi-apartment residential buildings. 10 people died, 48 were injured. Residential buildings, educational institutions, university dormitories, office premises, cars, etc. were destroyed.

The city allocated UAH 100 million for liquidation of the consequences of the Russian missile attack.

The Ukrainian Catholic University also opened an account for Lviv residents who suffered from the Russian attack.
