Over 20 Fountains Resume Operation in Lviv After Cold Snap, Including “Da Vinci” and “Lions’ Well”

With warmer weather returning, Lviv has restarted its public fountains after a temporary shutdown caused by spring frost. According to Viktor Dubyniak, Head of Municipal Services of the Halytskyi District Administration, most fountains are now running, with a few more set to be reactivated in the coming days.

🚰 Fountains already operating:

  • Koliyivshchyna Square

  • Kopernyka Street: “Lions’ Well” and “Volodii”

  • Rynok Square: drinking fountain

  • Svobody Avenue: drinking fountains near the Opera House and Berendy Street

  • Bandera Street: fountains near the Organ Hall and transport hub

  • Malanyuka Square: drinking fountain

  • Mytna Square: dry and drinking fountains

  • Krynychna Square: near Pidzamche station

💦 Upcoming activations:

  • April 14 (afternoon): dry and drinking fountains near the Opera House

  • April 15: “Da Vinci” fountain on Halytska Square

  • Dvirtseva Square fountain is being prepared for launch

🏛️ In 2025, Lviv will operate 21 fountains:

  • 9 decorative fountains:

    • Svobody Ave. (Opera House)

    • Halytska Square (“Da Vinci”)

    • Krynychna Square

    • Dvirtseva Square

    • Koliyivshchyna Square

    • Kopernyka Street: “Lions’ Well” and “Volodii”

    • Mytna Square

    • Stryiskyi Park (“Ivasyk-Telesyk”)

  • 12 drinking fountains in various key public locations

🔧 Technical notes:
All drinking fountains are managed by local administrations, while water quality is ensured by Lvivvodokanal. They are fitted with filters for clean, drinkable water.

Fountains currently closed:

  • Four historical fountains on Rynok Square

  • Fountain on Mariiinska Square

These remain inactive due to the war and will be restored after martial law ends.
