In Lviv, the historic interior doors on the street were restored. Heroiv Maidan, 5ts. Craftsmen replaced the damaged parts of the pine door, restored the skylight, installed a new faceted glass infill and restored the lost bumper for the feet. The restoration was carried out as part of the city’s Co-financing Program, which is coordinated by the Heritage Bureau of the Department of Historic Preservation.
“Unfortunately, the authentic door handles have been lost, but we found traces of their attachment on the canvas. So we understood what the shape of the handles was, and restored them according to the model preserved from another house on the street. Chuprinka,” said master restorer Pavlo Voytovych.
As noted by Pavlo Bogajchyk, director of LKP “Heritage Bureau”, the total cost of the works is about UAH 46,000. The city paid 70% of this amount, so the residents’ contribution amounted to UAH 13,851.
By the way, this is not the first restored object in this building. Previously, within the framework of the Co-financing Program, the outer gate was restored here.
We would like to remind you that in September Lviv will accept applications for the restoration of historical windows and gates within the framework of the Co-financing Program. The participants of the new set will be residents who volunteer through Lviv administrative service centers exclusively from September 1 to 15.
