Residents of Drohobych Region Urged to Stop Burning Dry Grass

Despite clear warnings and the circumstances of martial law, critically numerous cases of fires caused by the burning of dry grass continue to occur in the territory of Lviv Region and particularly in the Drohobych Community. In the past 24 hours alone, 59 such fires have been recorded, destroying 2.9 hectares of land. This was reported by the Drohobych Council.

What some consider routine clearing of the land actually leads to the death of wildlife, animals, and soil microflora, which form the foundation of our ecosystem. Mobile groups, including rescue inspectors, representatives of the environmental inspection, and law enforcement, conduct daily patrols to identify violators and carry out explanatory work.

Residents are again reminded that burning dry grass is uncontrolled. Due to the wind, the fire can instantly change direction and spread to residential homes or infrastructure, posing a direct threat to life. Legislation provides for administrative responsibility for such actions, but fines cannot compensate for destroyed nature or lost property.

Citizens are urged to be aware, noting that one thrown match can cause a massive tragedy, which is easier to prevent than to deal with later.
