In Lviv on Patona Street, 17, a new day care centre has opened for young people with disabilities, aged 18 and over. Here, they can develop their abilities, acquire independent living skills, and socialise with peers in a safe and inclusive environment. Currently, 12 teenagers are using the care service, 10 of whom use wheelchairs.
This is the eighth location providing daily day care services for young people with disabilities, aged 18 to 45. It makes social support more accessible and closer to home, allowing young people to socialise and interact with each other.
The new centre is designed with the principles of barrier-free access and accessibility in mind, to ensure comfortable movement for people with musculoskeletal disorders. A social worker and two social care workers are on site to provide daily support to programme participants.
The space was created with the support of the Lviv City Council, the Canada-Ukraine Foundation, and the “Children of Victory” charity fund. To learn more about the day care service, one should contact the “Dzherela” contact centre and submit the necessary documents to the district social protection department.
