The first Support Center for people who have survived captivity and torture has been opened on Lemkin Street in Ukraine.
Each week, hundreds of Ukrainians return from captivity, and even in safety, they need support. The Center is part of the UNBROKEN ecosystem, offering 17 rooms for accommodation that resemble a cozy home. Outpatient and inpatient care is provided here, along with modern therapy methods.
Next door is a building for art therapy featuring a pottery and art studio. If anyone wants to weave, sing, or engage in music, we will accommodate them, as the main goal is to provide a person with freedom and an environment for recovery.
Thanks to everyone involved. Special thanks to the Government of Flanders and the Mayor of Mechelen, Bart Somers, who did perhaps the most to make this project a reality.
