Increase in the Number of Children with Special Needs in the Community

The number of children with special educational needs in the community has increased fivefold since 2022.

“Since 2022, the number of children with special educational needs in our community has increased nearly fivefold,” said the director of the Inclusive Resource Center, Tetiana Dmytryshyn. In 18 general secondary education institutions, there are 85 inclusive classes attended by 178 children. Children’s kindergartens have 44 inclusive groups for 134 students. All institutions providing inclusive education are equipped with resource rooms and psychological relaxation corners.

Support for children and their families is provided by the Sheptytsky Inclusive Resource Center team. The team includes a defectologist, speech therapist, practical psychologist, and rehabilitation teacher. These specialists assess the children’s physical, speech, cognitive, emotional, and educational development.

The main task of the center is a comprehensive assessment of a child’s development and the creation of an individual program for their education and development. The Inclusive Resource Center also conducts remedial and developmental classes, provides parental consultations, and operates an early intervention project for children from birth to three years old.

The work of the center’s specialists helps children develop speech, attention, memory, thinking, learning skills, and adapt more easily to the educational environment.
