In April, a modern Nezlamna rehabilitation building will be opened in Lviv

A hundred specialists will fight here for every new movement of those crippled by the war. At the presentation of the NEZLAMNI National Rehabilitation Center in Kyiv, it became known that the center’s new building will be opened in April 2023. These are 7 floors for rehabilitation with apartment models and even a store, so that the patient can prepare for new living conditions as much as possible. Every year, 10,000 Ukrainians will be able to receive help here.

It is symbolic that the presentation of the project began in the thousand-year-old Sophia Cathedral – a symbol of Ukrainian insubordination. His Beatitude Sviatoslav, Head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, and Archpriest of the OCU Heorhiy Kovalenko prayed for the indomitable Ukrainians. The prayer was accompanied by singing by the “Dudaryk” choir from Lviv.

In the rehabilitation center, which is being created in Lviv within the structure of the First Medical Association, the most modern equipment and the latest methods are used to restore the full life of military personnel and those civilians who were injured as a result of the armed aggression of the enemy.

“Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Lviv has become a rear for Ukrainians fleeing the war. The city received more than 5 million people, including 11,000 wounded. Their treatment and rehabilitation was undertaken by the UNBROKEN National Rehabilitation Center. We have to take care of everyone who needs help,” said Andriy Sadovy, mayor of Lviv.

In the new building of the rehabilitation center, the latest equipment will be installed: a robotic walking system, exoskeletons, robogloves that help move the hand, etc. A swimming pool is also being built, because rehabilitation in the water is an integral part of recovery. At the same time, rehabilitation rooms with ceiling lifts are being created here so that bedridden patients can move to the pool or rehabilitation room.

The plan is to equip an occupational therapy apartment with a kitchen, where patients will be taught to take care of themselves again. Occupational therapists will help you hold a toothbrush or pencil again. An imitation of a store will also be created here, where patients can practice shopping.

Physical rehabilitation specialists will work side by side with psychologists and psychotherapists.

The future rehabilitation building is connected to the main hospital building of the National Rehabilitation Center NEZLAMNI. The full cycle of care will be ensured by cooperation with surgeons, traumatologists and other specialists working in the team of the medical facility, as well as access to all the necessary diagnostic equipment. Hospital patients will receive help in the Rehabilitation Building – 54 beds on two floors are provided for them. A day hospital and outpatient care are also provided.

“Our task is to help the patient realize his goals. This is the basis of the approach to rehabilitation in the world. The minimal task of the rehabilitation team is to give the patient all the necessary tools so that he can return to everyday life and be as independent as possible in it,” explained Oleg Samchuk, general director of the First Medical Association.

The rehabilitation building is being created on the basis of the old building of the polyclinic. The first partners of this project were the Red Cross, Poland, Lviv’s partner city Freiburg. Switzerland and Germany have already provided part of the rehabilitation equipment necessary for the operation of the center.

The NEZLAMNI National Rehabilitation Center on the basis of the First Medical Association of Lviv is a unique place where everyone who has suffered from the war gets a chance to be saved and receive high-quality rehabilitation. A multidisciplinary team works with each such Ukrainian there: a surgeon, a traumatologist, a prosthetist, a psychotherapist, and a rehabilitation specialist. The patient does not seek help abroad or in several different institutions, he receives it in one center.

In order for Ukrainians to recover as quickly as possible after combat injuries, the NEZLAMNI center launched a prosthetics program. In addition to conventional prostheses, the Center’s specialists have begun to install bionic prostheses for patients.
