Lviv to Bid Farewell to Defender Andriy Bryukhovych on January 14

On Tuesday, January 14, residents of Lviv will pay their respects to Andriy Bryukhovych, a soldier who gave his life defending Ukraine from Russian aggression. The Lviv City Council urges locals and visitors to join the farewell ceremony and refrain from holding festive or entertainment events on this day.

The funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. at the Garrison Church of Saints Peter and Paul. Around 11:30 a.m., a city-wide farewell ceremony will take place at Rynok Square.

Andriy Bryukhovych will be laid to rest at Lychakiv Cemetery.

Biography of the Defender

Andriy Bryukhovych (March 18, 1985 – March 30, 2024) was born in Lviv. He studied at Secondary School No. 83, now known as Ivan Puluy Lyceum.

He graduated from the National Forestry University of Ukraine with a degree in engineering mechanics and later pursued a second degree at the same institution. After completing his studies, he worked at the “Brama” and “LIMO” enterprises.

In his free time, Andriy enjoyed fishing and mushroom hunting.

Following the full-scale Russian invasion, he joined Ukraine’s defense forces. Initially serving in the 420th Separate Rifle Battalion, he later fought with the 68th Separate Jaeger Brigade named after Oleksa Dovbush. He participated in combat operations in the Kharkiv and Donetsk regions.

He is survived by his mother, brother, sister, nephews, and godchildren.
