
In the Drohobych community, the death of Ukrainian defender Roman Mishturak, who had been considered missing for over a year, has been officially confirmed. His body can now be brought back to Drohobych for a farewell ceremony and burial.
Roman Mishturak was born on 17 June 1980 in Kazakhstan, but from childhood lived in Drohobych on Sambirska Street. He studied at local secondary school No. 3. In peacetime he worked in repairs and periodically went abroad for seasonal work.
At the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion, Roman was abroad, but he returned to Ukraine and joined the ranks of the defenders. He served as senior driver of the 1st assault section of the 1st assault platoon of the 1st assault company of the 2nd assault battalion, military unit A4638.
On 3 July 2025, while carrying out his combat duty in defence of Ukraine, contact with the serviceman was lost. Since then, he had been listed as missing. Only now has his death been officially confirmed.
The fallen defender is survived by his son and his sister with her family. Drohobych City Council, its executive committee, Mayor Taras Kuchma and Council Secretary Orest Karakevych have expressed their condolences to the family, relatives and friends of Roman Mishturak.
