The story of Yurii Manzhulo from Bila Tserkva, who weighed only 45 kilograms after his release from Russian captivity in 2022, serves as a reminder of the spirit of Ukrainian warriors. Instead of his usual weight of 75 kg, his body was emaciated; however, he gradually recovered thanks to support and rehabilitation. This was reported on Facebook.
In early March this year, along with 19 other veterans and servicemen who were injured during combat, he participated in Ukraine’s first winter rehabilitation and sports camp ‘Invictus League’. The camp, organised in Lviv region, brought together warriors from all over Ukraine.
During the ten-day stay at the camp, participants had the opportunity to engage in adaptive sports: skiing, biathlon, swimming, archery, table tennis, and CrossFit. After intense training, they socialised and refreshed themselves among those who understood them.
The camp organisers thanked the Department of Sport, Youth and Tourism of Lviv Regional State Administration, the Western Rehabilitation and Sports Centre NSIU, as well as coaches, rehabilitators, and all specialists who work daily with veterans. Their support, professionalism and humanity help our defenders move forward. The veterans, of whom we are proud, are people of incredible strength, and we are grateful to them for their contribution to defending Ukraine.
