Unique Christmas traditions, festive home-made cookies, carols and fundraising for the Armed Forces of Ukraine – this is the goal of the Galician festival “Gazdynia Fest”, which will take place in Drohobych for the third time.
The event is organized by the Department of Culture and Tourism Development, in particular the head of the culture and arts department, Lesya Tatarska, who is the founder of the festival. The delicious holiday will unite the talented housewives of the entire region – Drohobych, Stebnyk and the villages of the territorial community. Skilled housewives prepare homemade delicacies for the festival: pampushki, strutzli, braids, cakes, they do not forget about the main symbol of the holidays – kutyu and original Ukrainian canapés and drinks. You can not only taste all the Christmas goodies, but also buy them and make a donation in support of the Armed Forces.
This year, the sweets festival is scheduled for January 4, 12:00 p.m. However, the start time of the festival can be shifted in case of air alarms. Also, during the alarm, trade at the festival will be suspended, and visitors will be asked to take shelter. The closest ones will be the shelters of Ukrtelecom, Drogobytsk City Council, the Church of the Holy Trinity, and the People’s House named after I.Frank.
“Gazdynia Fest” is a festival that is primarily designed to popularize Boykiv and Lemkiv culture, our unique Christmas traditions of the festive table, carols and greetings. There is an intention to bring our festival to the interregional level after the end of the war. After all, ancestral traditions, which are rich in our land and directly in our region and city, should live on, should be multiplied and passed on from generation to generation. Today, our soldiers at the forefront stand precisely for the preservation of not only our borders, but also our language, traditions and culture. Our doctors tirelessly treat and practically 24/7 pull the wounded and injured from the grip of death, because they know that no one but them can do it. Likewise, our rescuers are working 24/7 to clear rubble from Russian shelling and help find the missing under them. Everyone in their place does everything every day to bring victory closer. Given the increasing shelling of Ukrainian cities these days, we have no right to allow the enemy to intimidate us and destroy our traditions and cultural heritage. Therefore, this year’s festival “Gazdynia Fest” is primarily intended to collect additional donations in support of the Armed Forces, because recently the collection of funds for the needs of soldiers has decreased significantly. Therefore, we invite everyone who cares to join and thereby support our defenders, – comments Lesya Tatarska.
All funds collected during the sale of goodies will be directed to help soldiers and individual battalions.
