For the first time in the history of Lviv armwrestling, Lviv residents won 8 prizes at the World Championships. Today they met with Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi and shared their impressions of the competition. In his turn, the mayor presented them with gratitude and awards from the city community.
From 15 to 22 August, the Moldovan city of Chisinau hosted the World Armwrestling Championships among boys, juniors, youth, adults and para-athletes. This year, 1300 athletes from 61 countries took part in the competition. Lviv was represented by 13 athletes, 2 coaches and 1 judge.
Our athletes won 8 medals
Among boys U15:
– Karolina Zinchuk (45 kg, 15 years old) – 1st place right hand, 3rd place left hand (coach Igor Ivanitsky)
Among U23 youth:
– Savenko Vadim (65 kg, 23 years old) – 1st place right hand (coach Ivanitsky Igor)
Among para-athletes:
– Pavlo Panasenko (85kg) – 1st place left hand (coach Ihor Ivanitskyi)
– Anna Kushnir (60kg) – 1st place right hand, 2nd place left hand (coach Bohdan Ivanitskyi)
– Tovarnitsky Ivan (65kg) – 2nd place right hand (coach Bohdan Ivanitsky)
Veterans:
– Sergey Kesarev (+100) – 3rd place left hand
These champions were awarded prizes as part of the city’s programme of providing prizes to talented and promising athletes and their coaches. Today, the mayor of Lviv thanked them for their achievements and presented them with certificates of appreciation and prizes in the following amounts:
- Karolina Zinchuk – UAH 22,000, the same amount will be given to the athlete’s coach, Ihor Ivanitskyi;
- Vadym Savenko – UAH 14,000, the same amount will be given to the athlete’s coach, Ihor Ivanitskyi;
- Pavlo Panasenko – UAH 24,000, the same amount will be paid to the athlete’s coach, Ihor Ivanitskyi;
- Anna Kushnir – UAH 44,000, the same amount will be paid to the athlete’s coach, Bohdan Ivanitskyi;
- Ivan Tovarnitsky – UAH 20,000, the same amount will be given to the athlete’s coach, Bohdan Ivanitsky.
During the meeting with the athletes, they also discussed the prospects for the development of armwrestling in Lviv, in particular, as part of the development of the Unbroken Sport area – high-quality rehabilitation of military and civilian victims of war through sports.
