Lviv Region Develops Veteran Sports with New Initiatives

Lviv region is actively working on the development of veteran sports.

The Minister for Veterans Affairs of Ukraine, Nataliya Kalmykova, visited the region on a working visit. The main topic of the meeting was the development of veteran sports and the training of coaches who will work with military personnel during physical and psychological recovery.

Together with the Chief of Staff of the Lviv Regional State Administration, Taras Gren, and a veteran, Lieutenant Colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Viktor Legkodukh, the Minister reviewed the sports space of the ‘LEAGUE’ network, which is used for adapted training of veterans. They discussed the hall’s accessibility and creating comfortable conditions for sports activities for military personnel, including those with disabilities.

“True recovery for a veteran begins with the feeling of being seen and having the ability to influence your own life. Sports restore control, discipline, and peace. Our task is to provide each community with a space where a veteran can receive support and humane treatment”, said Taras Gren.

As part of the ‘Veteran Sports’ program, adapted training, workshops, and training for coaches are already being conducted at the ‘LEAGUE’.
