Schoolchildren from Lviv region win the most medals at the national stage of the school leagues

Pupils from Lviv region achieved the highest number of awards at the national stage of the competition “Plich-o-plich. All-Ukrainian School Leagues”. They won 9 medals: 3 gold, 4 silver and 2 bronze, which secured the region second place in the overall team ranking.

The third season of the project has been the largest in its history. At all stages — from school to national — almost one million schoolchildren took part. Over the year, 28 leagues in 12 sports were held, and around 10,000 participants from all over Ukraine reached the final stage.

In the 2025/2026 season, for the first time, pupils from primary, lower secondary and upper secondary schools took part in the competitions simultaneously. The tournaments were held in five stages — from school qualifiers to the national final. Children competed in basketball, 3×3 basketball, volleyball, handball, athletics, table tennis, orienteering, chess, mass football, rugby-5, cheerleading and cross-country biathlon.

Although Lviv region has the highest number of medals, it finished second in the team standings. First place went to schoolchildren from Poltava, who won 6 gold medals (8 medals in total). Dnipropetrovsk region, with 6 medals, also made it into the top three.

Lviv region ranked second in Ukraine by number of registered teams, trailing Kyiv region by just 43 sports teams.

“Across Ukraine as a whole, 58,000 teams applied to take part, which is more than one million schoolchildren. This is a project that truly brings children together and involves them in an active lifestyle,” said Roman Khimyak.
