Amid the Easter holidays, we are saddened by the passing of the distinguished Drohobych native and talented artist Halyna Dyorka. After a prolonged battle with a severe illness, she departed this life on April 19, 2025, at her home in Drohobych. For half a century, her flute was an integral part of the Honored Prykarpattia Song and Dance Ensemble of Ukraine ‘Verkhovyna’. Drohobych City Council extends deep condolences to her son, city council deputy Oleh Dyorka, as well as to her family, friends, and colleagues. Her cherished memory will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. The ‘Verkhovyna’ ensemble honors her as the heart of their creative team, emphasizing that the memory of her will live on in future melodies.
The funeral service will take place on April 21 from the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity.
